Have you learnt the basic tap steps and want to learn more? This course will develop your tap steps and put them into a fun routine.

What the course is about

You will refresh your basic tap steps before putting them into combinations, such as, timestep, suzy Q and Broadway.  These steps will be used to create a routine, just for fun, or to show off to your friends and family. 



Each week will include 




  • Warmups concentrating on leg and feet muscles 

  • Learning and practicing a series of basic tap steps 

  • Developing a routine to music 

  • Cool down and stretches  



Tap dancing benefits general fitness, balance, musicality and rhythm.

There are no pre-course information sessions or interviews in order to enrol on this course.

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

There is no qualification or examination attached to this course.

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

This course is for learners who have completed Adult Tap for Beginners or those returning to Tap dance, and those wishing to refresh their skills. 



Learners will be able to do basic tap steps, such as, a shuffle, step heel, pick up, dig and tap 

Materials and costs

Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a drink of water.  



Tap shoes are required

Fully funded learners: if you have been offered a fully funded place on a course and no longer require it, you must advise us before the course starts so that your place can be offered to someone else. We reserve the right to withdraw future offers of fully funded places if you regularly do not start or complete funded courses.

Home study: you will be required to do significant study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.

Proof of identity: please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.

Off-site activities: with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.
