ICT for Beginners Step 2
This course follows on from the Step 1 course and will further develop your computing skills.
What the course is about
The course will build on the skills covered in the Step 1 course and further develop your confidence and competence in using IT.
Pre-course information session or interview
There are no entry requirements for this course but most participants will have completed the Step 1 course first.
Assessment of progress, tests, exams
Your tutor will work with you to develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP) which will help you review your progress towards achieving your goals during the course.
There is no qualification or examination attached to this course.
Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications
This is a second step course. Many learners will be taking this as a follow on course to our ICT for Beginners Step 1 course.
Key questions for potential learners to consider might be:
- What digital device do you have and how long have you had it? We are excepting learners to have a tablet, laptop or desktop. Thise with just a phone should do the Getting to grips with your tablet or smartphone course instead,
- Do you know how to connect your device to different wi-fi networks? If the answer is yes then this course if probably too basic for you, If the answer is no then this course will be just right.
- Do you know how to record a video and send it to friends and family? If the answer is yes then this course if probably too basic for you, If the answer is no then this course will be just right.
Materials and costs
You will need a notebook and a pen to write down instructions. You would ideally have access to a computer outside sessions to practice on.

Fully funded learners: if you have been offered a fully funded place on a course and no longer require it, you must advise us before the course starts so that your place can be offered to someone else. We reserve the right to withdraw future offers of fully funded places if you regularly do not start or complete funded courses.
Home study: you will be required to do significant study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.

Proof of identity: please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.
Off-site activities: with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.
