Are you a parent, carer or grandparent of a child below the age of 16 yrs? Then why not come along with your child and join us on this informative and fun workshop to celebrate recycling and learn about how to reduce your waste in the home and reinvent some everyday household items by getting crafty

What the course is about

During this course you will receive both group and individual support to help you learn more how you can support waste reduction.  You will also reuse some everyday items to create something new and wonderful.

There is always room for improvement when it comes to taking care of the planet. So, if you love recycling, hate wasting things these workshops are for you.

In this workshop we will investigate some or all the following:

  • Upcycling   

  • Reimagining    

  • Collaborating

  • Design 

  • Reuse, recycle, repair, re-gift, reinvent, 

  • Make your own.

All our courses are made up of elements of speaking & listening, reading and writing, and you will work using these elements throughout the course.

Some of the skills you gain on this course could help increase your opportunities for employment or working within the community. Learning takes place in a friendly classroom setting, which is a great place for social interaction and helping you meet new people.

Practice at home and completion of homework is advisable to enhance your learning experience.

This course is subsidised by Government funding so you should aim to attend the whole course.

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

There is no qualification or examination attached to this course.

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

This course is for parents, grandparents and carers, of children under 16 and children between 5 - 12 years. It is for complete beginners or those who would like to refresh and share their skills.


This course is ideally suited for children aged 5 - 12 years old.


Maximum of 1 child per adult.


Children must be supervised by an accompanying adult at all times. During sessions children are the sole responsibility of their accompanying adult. 


Materials and costs

All basic resources and materials will be provided but it would be great if you could bring in some clean, used household items such as plastic bottles, plastic containers, glass jars etc.

Home study: you will be required to do significant study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.

Proof of identity: please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.

Off-site activities: with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.
