What the course is about

This is an ideal refresher course for qualified hairdressers who want to improve their basic cutting, styling and colouring skills to enable you to work within the industry. 



You will work on models to refresh and develop your knowledge, skills and techniques in the following services;




  • Client consultation

  • Cutting 

  • Styling, including the 'bouncy blow-dry look'

  • Colour placement

  • Colour knowledge

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

Your tutor will work with you to develop and review your progress throughout the course.



There is no qualification attached to this course.



You will negotiate a Personal Learning Plan with your tutor identifying the areas you need to develop, which will be reviewed at regular intervals.

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

This course has been designed for qualified hairdressers who wish to refresh their knowledge, skills and techniques in order to work in the industry.



A previous Level 2 Hairdressing qualification is required for this course and you will need to bring proof of this to your first session.



There is an expectation that if you enrol on this course, you are willing to commit fully to the period of time involved in this course, the associated home study and the assessed work required.

Materials and costs

You will need a device so you can access online learning materials.



You will need to wear appropriate clothing and footwear, and guidance will be provided at your first session by your tutor.  There is no requirement to buy a kit as all equipment will be provided.

Home study: you may be required to do some study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.

Qualification Levels: there is further information about qualification levels on our website. Some courses have learners of different levels being taught in the same class with differentiated learning materials and activities appropriate to the qualification level.

Proof of identity: please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.

Off-site activities: with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.
