Maths Course Admissions Session
This is a 2 hour period during which you need to be available to talk to one of our Admission Team on the phone, to help you choose the right course for you. Although the phone call will not take 2 hours, you will need to be available during that allocated time as we can't give a specific time slot
What the course is about
During this session you will be phoned to :
- Discuss your current skills and ability levels in your required subject
- Have a discussion to identify your learning goals and identify any learning needs or preferences you have
- Be given support with choosing the right course for you
- Understand what the course is about and answer any questions you may have about your learning
Pre-course information session or interview
- You will need to submit an application form online
- You will receive confirmation that we have received your application
- You will then be sent an Email asking you to complete a BKSB assessment to assess what level you are working at and what key areas you might need to work on

You will need to complete a diagnostic assessment before attending your first class.
Assessment of progress, tests, exams
Current ability levels will be checked and you will be told the level you are working at along with some information about your learning gaps. This will help us to identify the correct level and type of course for you to enrol on.
Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications
This Admission session is for new learners who wish to join one of our courses.
No previous experience is needed but we will discuss details of what you have achieved in the past.
You will need to have completed the BKSB assessment before we can confirm your place on the Admission Session
Materials and costs
You may wish to have a pen and paper available in case you want to make your own notes.

Attendance: before enrolling you should ensure that you can attend all classes offered as far as possible.
Places on courses: many of our courses are in high demand. If you have been offered a place but no longer require it, please advise us immediately as you may be preventing another learner from taking the place. Where learners do not attend the first session, without having given prior notice, Skills & Learning reserve the right to offer the place on the course to another learner; you will not be eligible for a refund it it is outside of the terms outlined in our cancellation policy.
Fully funded learners: if you have been offered a fully funded place on a course and no longer require it, you must advise us before the course starts so that your place can be offered to someone else. We reserve the right to withdraw future offers of fully funded places if you regularly do not start or complete funded courses.
Home study: you will be required to do significant study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.
Qualification Levels: there is further information about qualification levels on our website.
Proof of identity: please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.
Off-site activities: with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.
