Mindfulness in the Park
We all need an outlet from fear, anxiety and stress, mindfulness costs nothing and is easy to invoke, once you understand how to set the scene for you to become mindful, all of which, this workshop will teach you.
What the course is about
When we are mindful, we reduce stress, enhance performance, and gain insight and awareness through observing our own mind, and increase our attention to another's well-being. Mindfulness meditation gives us a time in our lives when we can suspend judgement and unleash our natural curiosity about the workings of the mind, approaching our experience with warmth and kindness - to ourselves and others. What better place to learn how to become Mindful that the beauteous Upton Park . All our courses are made up of elements of speaking & listening, reading and writing, and you will work using these elements throughout the course. Some of the skills you gain on this course could help increase your opportunities for employment or working within the community. Learning takes place in a friendly classroom setting, which is a great place for social interaction and helping you meet new people. Practice at home and completion of homework is advisable to enhance your learning experience. This course is subsidised by Government funding so you should aim to attend the whole course.
Pre-course information session or interview
Anyone can join this workshop, but you should consider first if you have any illness or injury that may prevent you from being able to relax fully. If you are unsure, please consult your GP before enrolling.
Assessment of progress, tests, exams
There is no exam or accreditation associated with this course.
Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications
This course is suitable for anyone over the age of 19, who needs to develop their skills in being able to 'switch off' from anxiety, catastrophising and everyday stress.
Materials and costs
You will need to wear comfortable (loose) clothes and flat shoes.

Fully funded learners: if you have been offered a fully funded place on a course and no longer require it, you must advise us before the course starts so that your place can be offered to someone else. We reserve the right to withdraw future offers of fully funded places if you regularly do not start or complete funded courses.
Home study: you will be required to do significant study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.
Proof of identity: please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.
Off-site activities: with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.
