Healthy Activities and Food (HAF) Programme

Our HAF programme provides children aged 8-12 across Dorset with healthy meals and workshops to enhance their development and wellbeing through the Easter, Summer and Winter school holidays.

In partnership with local schools and parents, we are proud to offer an exciting programme of workshops, open to all children living in Dorset aged 8-12. Children will enjoy a fun workshop where they can make new friendships, gain independence and enjoy a balanced, nutritious meal.

New for 2023: Chesil ‘Get Transition Right Summer Project 2023 

In partnership with local schools, Dorset Healthy Activities and Food Team (HAF) and Chesil Education & Early Help Team we are proud to offer our new Chesil Summer School Project 2023.  

There will be 4 Summer Schools running from Monday 24th July to Friday 28th July 2023 at:  

  •  Wey Valley Academy  
  • Atlantic Academy  
  • All Saints  Academy  
  • Budmouth Academy  

The Summer Schools are only for year 6 children making the transition into year 7 at one of the schools above. 

 These safe and friendly Summer Schools are designed to help children make a successful transition to year 7, reduce anxiety and enjoy fun workshops where they can make new friendships, gain independence and enjoy a balanced, nutritious meal.  

 You will require a Dorset HAF Passcode or special passcode provided by your child’s primary school in order to book and secure your child’s FREE place on a Summer School.  

 Once you have a Passcode please contact our friendly Customer Service Team on 01202 123444 to enrol on this FREE provision.

How to book:

1. Get your booking passcode

If your child is eligible for free school meals, you’ll need to head to the Dorset Council website to retrieve your free booking code. If your child is not eligible for free school meals, simply skip this step.

2. Choose your workshops

Sit down with your little ones and choose which workshops they’d like to be part of.

3. Call us on 01202 123444

Call us with your Dorset Council passcode and chosen workshops to enrol your child! Over the phone we can confirm your place and any dietary requirements for your child.

What is the HAF programme?

The Healthy Activities and Food Programme is designed to bring high quality, accessible and affordable holiday activities to you, our families in Dorset over the school holidays.

The Holidays, Activities and Food programme was initially designed for children entitled to free school meals after a campaign by Marcus Rashford MBE. You can find out more on Youtube here.

It is a Government-funded iniative to support children and families by enabling them to:

  • Enjoy tasty and nutritious food
  • Make new friendships
  • Take part in workshops designed to promote wellbeing, learning and development
  • Gain independance

Who is the programme for?

We welcome all children on our HAF workshops – whether they are eligible for free school meals or not. These workshops are designed for children aged 8-12.

  • If your child is eligible for free school meals, simply follow the steps to enrol above.
  • If your child is not eligible for free school meals, simply skip step 1. Please note we have a small fee per child per workshop to cover the cost of running the workshop and the meal included. We take payment for this over the phone upon calling to book.
