Why study Functional Skills Maths with Skills & Learning?

A Functional Skills qualification is great study option because it allows you to develop skills you need in everyday life and concentrates on essential problem-solving skills that you are likely to use on a daily basis, rather than in-depth theory which is the focus of GCSE. It is also possible to start a Functional Skills course with Skills and Learning at set points during the year and depending on your starting point and the progress you make, can be completed in in a shorter space of time than GCSE. Functional skills qualifications are great for those who want to further their career or go back into education later in life as they are recognised as equivalent to GCSE by many employers and universities.

If you do not yet have a Maths GCSE grade 4 (C) or above, your study will be fully funded by the Government. It is important that you make the commitment to attend your course every week. Find out more about our finance options here.
