As the Adult Education provider for Dorset, Skills & Learning understands the unique needs of our adult learners and offers flexible options. We offer distance learning courses that can be completed from home at your own pace, as well as part-time courses and support for those struggling with the workload.
“Technology is too much for me, it keeps changing… I can’t keep up!”
Most of our courses for adults in BCP & Dorset require only basic digital skills. However, if you struggle with technology, we offer a range of computing and digital skills courses to help you improve your skills and confidence.
“I’m too old to go back to education… I don’t think it benefits people my age.”

Our courses are designed to suit a wide range of goals, from qualifications to personal development and connection to others. We offer Learning for Life, Health and Wellbeing courses in subjects including arts and crafts, languages, and creative writing for those looking to start a new hobby, build on existing skills, and meet new people without the pressure of exams.

Many of the courses we offer are free as we are supported by funding from the Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA). We also offer instalment plans on courses where funding is unavailable and loans that can help cover tuition costs, with repayment typically starting after you reach a certain income threshold.
