Explore the Human Mind: An Introduction to Psychology and Personal Growth
In this engaging course, you’ll dive into the fascinating world of psychology—examining how we think, feel, and behave through the lens of some of the field’s most influential scientists and theories. Alongside academic exploration, you’ll also reflect on your own personal development, gaining insights that can enhance both your learning and everyday life.
Topics may include:
- Cognitive, forensic, social, and developmental psychology
- Ethics in psychological practice
- Practical research methods
- Groundbreaking discoveries by famous psychologists
Throughout the course, you’ll develop your speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, using them to explore ideas, share reflections, and build confidence in your understanding of psychology.
If you have declared at enrolment that you are unemployed, you may be invited to meet with an Information, Advice and Guidance Officer or employability member of staff, to identify other learning opportunities that will support you to secure employment or improve your employment prospects. We highly recommend that you engage fully in any other learning opportunities that we help you identify.

Assessment of progress, tests, exams
This is a qualification course is designed to support your personal growth while building essential life and learning skills. You’ll work towards: NCFE Entry Level 3 Certificate in Personal and Social Development by creating a portfolio of evidence that reflects your progress and achievements. You will complete homework tasks to reinforce your learning and build your portfolio.
Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications
This is a Beginners course, and you will be expected to have no experience in the subject, or very basic knowledge of the subject including some memory of the subject from school. You will need to have English skills at Entry Level 3.
Materials and costs
All learning materials will be provided.

Fully funded learners: if you have been offered a fully funded place on a course and no longer require it, you must advise us before the course starts so that your place can be offered to someone else. Home study: you will be required to do significant study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.

Proof of identity: please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.
Off-site activities: with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.

Fees and concessions
The total charge for this course is £210. Concessions FREE.
You could study this course for free if any of the following apply:
- You receive Job Seekers Allowance (including National Insurance credits only), Employment and Support Allowance
- You receive Universal Credit or other state benefits not included previously and your take home pay (disregarding Universal Credit and other benefits) is less than £892 a month (if you are a sole adult in your benefit claims) or £1,437 a month (if you have a joint benefit claim with your partner).
- You are not in receipt of benefits, are unemployed, want to be employed and the course is directly relevant to your employment prospects.
- If your income is below £25,000 p.a (gross including benefits)
If you’re not eligible, you can pay via an Instalment Plan or by paying the full course fee upfront.
