Distance learning
We offer distance learning courses in many subjects to allow you to study and gain a qualification from the comfort of your own home.
What is distance learning?
Distance learning courses are online based courses where you, the learner, can pace your own study and complete it at times convenient for you. This is ideal if you have other commitments, such as work or caring for others, but would like to study and learn around them.
You will be provided with access to an online platform to follow your course and guidance on how to use this. You will be allocated a tutor who will support you through the qualification. You will complete reading, activities and assessments online. You will have assistance from your tutor who will; give you feedback on your work, help you if you are struggling and let you know when you have achieved your learning outcomes.
You should aim to complete your course within 6-9 months. To enrol onto our distance learning courses you will need to read the relevant course information sheet below and then follow the application process. View all our distance learning courses below.
What are the benefits of distance learning?
Learn at a time convenient for you
With distance learning courses, you can find your own time to study around your own responsibilities and commitments.
Gain independence and confidence
Self-study can help increase your independence, self-motivation, and intuitive skills, as well as your knowledge of the subject. Most courses also include a qualification to reflect your hard work.
Choose from over 30 distance learning courses
Whether you want to study a level 1 certificate in Mental Health Awareness, or a level 3 certificate in Dementia Care, we have a course for you. See our full list of current courses below.

“In the dark winter months it has been great to share the learning experience and just simply lose myself in the subject for a few hours. I am a carer for my husband so it’s good to have time for myself at least once a week.”
“I have been learning here since 2017. All tutors are great. I am very glad that I have the opportunity to continue my education.”
